I’ve launched 4 different product sites and have been trouble getting any visibility for any of them – what’s the best way to launch something into the world so that it gets noticed?

I’d start with google adwords, generic keywords, observe what people are searching for and then start optimising for SEO. Also search quota for marketing tips and user acquisition strategies, there’s lots of good content there.

It can actually be easier to get press than you think. You don’t need to have a PR agency, you just need an interesting story. Go do the Journalists research, find interesting stats and factoids about your market, write a half-interesting PR piece and go punt it to journalists. And how to find journalists – that may not be as hard as you think either. Mail your friends, someone _will_ know someone that can get you an in.

There are a lot of different items you can do. There is a lot of information available for SEO (website magazine, google, moz) to make sure the site is optimized for search. #1 item is content. A quicker way to get noticed and stand out is using pay per click advertising on Facebook, Twitter, Google. Blogging is a good way to increase traffic. If you have good content people will link to your site and come back for updates. Social Media is also a good way to increase awareness. (many different avenues, but will likely need to spend some money to get quicker results)
