How can i stop letting peoples opinions effect me and then sabotage my success?

I am 21, from 10th grade to now I have tried and failed in 3 business. Every business failed because so many people put me down about the business and then I felt bad and then took zero action and eventually quit. I know it’s my fault but now I’m in real estate and all day I’m just thinking about the people around me that seem to laugh at my aspirations. I want at least to stop letting it sabotage my goals.

  • Starting a business is really hard mentally. Everything that goes wrong is automatically your fault. During bad times people will assume that you’re not cut out for it or that you deserve to fail. During good times people will tell you they knew all along you’d make it in the end.

The truth is that the emotional battle is something everybody faces. There are millions of people with half written book manuscripts, but very few people who have the stamina to get their book published. There are tons of people who want to start a business “some day”, but few people who actually take the leap. You did. That counts for something.

Besides, you’re young so you’ve got time to figure this all out. If it takes you 20 years, or 30, to start a great business that’s still something you can be really proud of. Commit to be in it for the long haul, and keep going no matter what.

In terms of practical advice, try to find a co-founder. It doesn’t have to be you alone vs. the world.

  • I’m in my mid-thirties and almost have a handle on controlling negative feelings I get from the influence (opinions) of other people. Learning to control how I feel — about anything — has been a life long process that I can only improve through development.

Reaading Victor Frankl’s book, “Man’s Search for Ultimate Meaning” helped me realize that it was entirely possible to get a handle on how I allow external influences to affect me. From then on, I have been trying to put the lessons into play.

From my experience, I realized that it takes time to control feelings but it’s entirely possible to!

    1) If you took zero action -it never was a business.

    2) Do you understand how business really works ?

What if Steve Jobs had posted this :

“Every business failed because so many people put me down about the business and then I felt bad and then took zero action and eventually quit”.

I’m not mocking you.I’m trying to get you to see yourself from the

  • Wow and wow. Three businesses at 21, keep going! You’ll hit it. Don’t listen to the negative. Learn from your mistakes and improve the next version! V4 is right there.

  • There is a saying in the Bible about not casting your pearls before swine. LOOSELY translating, this means don’t tell everybody your business and your plans. Everybody can’t go on the journey with you, because it’s not their purpose. Get around positive people who are entrepreneurial instead of the 9 to 5ers who will NEVER understand. Finally, if you are looking for permission to follow your dreams, you have already made your first mistake. You can be a leader or follower, but when it’s your life, you have to believe or no one else will.
