I want out. How do you give up on something successful? If it ruined your life and happiness? I can't anymore. I thought I wanted it bad enough. I don't know what else I might do. But 4 years of pain is finally too much. It's like killing my own baby

  • I feel you. It becomes a hollow existence.

I think the root may be – that as a successful entrepreneur, very few people have the capacity to understand. This leaves you in a position of being isolated. Others have nothing to offer you. Why even waste your time with them, other than to just be in someones company for a bit when feel like being around people for a bit – only to again realize the same.

  • People can give you kudos and all that – it must be like how actors feel when getting an award at those shows they say are meaningless. because it is.

  • Can you go public?

I mean, what drives us as entrepreneurs. Freedom. Something only other entrepreneurs will only ever understand

  • Oh good grief. You must be of the younger generation of “entrepreneurs”. You’re so vague it’s worthless. Are you single or married? Do you have kids or still truly “free”? Is your “success” putting cash in your bank ? Or did you raise money and now you just think it’s a success (on paper)?

How has this success ruined your life and happiness? What are the specific problems? What are you missing out on?

Stop whining and start analyzing and fixing. Cash is king in this world. If you’re not making enough bank, then walk away and do something that really makes you happy (doesn’t have to make a lot — just pays the bills). If your success is putting good cash in YOUR bank, then start hiring someone to do the tasks/stuff that’s “killing you” and take some time off and go have fun !

I ran a successfully money-making business for many years by only going into the office for 20 hrs a week — I hired a manager to help manage the headaches so that I could have a BLAST during the time away from the office (mostly raising my 3 young kids — I’m a proud Dad!).

You have a lot of soul searching to do, but deal with specifics, not complain about generalities. Life is hard no matter what you do (try raising 3 kids!)

  • You’re trying to get rich and it’s hard – boohoo. Quit and get a normal job, like a normal person. You think you’re better than that though, that’s why you became an entrepreneur. Now you want support? The world doesn’t revolve around you, asshole.

    • I just came across this conversation and to the person who wrote this confession:

Please don’t even bother reading comments like the last one! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and it’s totally fine to seek support and ask others for advice. That’s what this website is for!

    • I think having feelings is ok. Success is isolating. The more successful you are, the more isolating it is.

As per the rude comments, I don’t know why some of these posters are so angry about you using the confession space as intended…also it’s a rule that you’re not supposed to be a troll on here…you’re supposed to give constructive feedback. There’s nothing constructive about calling a human who did something appropriate an “asshole”. I think the moderators should remove that comment, just on the basis of being unconstructive.

You didn’t book a meeting with those posters and then blame them for your feelings. You’re just asking for a little support. Geesh. I’m sorry you had to read that rude comment.

      Your pain is valid.
