I put in $180k and three years and recently walked away. I was totally burned out, and while the business model was still valid in my mind, I realized that I was now the road block. I stopped work immediately. My health is a wreck and my credit rating is bad enough that I have little chance of finding an apartment in SF, especially with my dog. I have been staying at a friend’s place for a year and have well extended my stay.

  • Sorry to hear that. $180K is a LOT to put into a (presumably software) startup without much to show for it. Get healthy, that’s priority #1.

  • Sorry to hear this. Get out of the rat race and insanity that is SF tech city. Really. Get your mind back: go visit another friend or relative that lives in a further away, slower city. Hell, drop off the map and land in a European/Asian village (cheaper, more peaceful) if you can. Like commenter above me said, your health is top priority, which starts with your mind.

  • At least you have tried unlike many others. Get some well deserved rest, recuperate, and be kind to yourself.

  • +1 for gaining perspective. Your business doesn’t matter if you’re dead, sick, or hating life. Life matters. Get some R&R, step back and gain perspective, and maybe attack again someday. But sort yourself out first. Good luck mate.
