I’ve been working on a mental health awareness campaign and support network for the tech community for 18 mos, but my own struggles with depression and anxiety have prevented me from truly launching. The irony… Need some folks to keep me focused.

  • As someone with mental health issues in tech, I appreciate what you are doing.

Your experience with these challenges will make a difference. Time after time, I walk away from conversations about dealing with bipolar / depression / anxiety / etc with well intentioned, supportive people thinking “they really don’t what it is like.”

Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good. Get whatever you have out to people who need it. Those real-life connections might inspire you. (Although I know good things does not equal the depression magically being lifted away).

Also, make sure you are taking care of yourself.

    Hang in there

  • Thank you for your candor and for your efforts on the awareness campaign and support network.

Emotions can be like code to inform us of how we need to work with a situation. So it’s really important – especially in a startup environment – to build capability to work with your emotions.

And, working toward emotional health is an ongoing process as are other aspects of our health, like physical well-being.

I’m curious to learn more about your project and would like to offer my support, I sent you a private email with contact information if you’d like to follow up.

Echo the above comment to “care for yourself.”

  • Please share more about the project! Maybe a bunch of us can help you keep focused (man, I need that too) and collaborate. Also, if it motivates you, think how much this can help you and DON’T think about all the stuff that you’re probably worrying about going sideways.

  • I wonder if I can help in anyway. I work in an organisation that provides support to people with mental health as a learning and development advisor. On my own I am currently working on a website to sell training materials that allow people to deliver introductory mental health training
