I hate my coworker who gets paid double what I do for half of the work.

Have you asked for a raise? Make a case to your boss as to why you deserve more.

Often times office politics can determine how much you get paid. Most likely your boss likes this person more than you so it doesn’t matter how much work you do in comparison to them.

You might be better off finding another job and leaving that toxic environment. If you threaten to leave they might give you a raise.

I would ignore it, inter company pay rises usually do little to effect your lifestyle, if you want a big pay rise change company. Until then enjoy that that you’re at half the risk of being cut as they are when cost cutting is needed.

She probably has more experience and is a better negotiator than you. Move on.

How do you know she is a female? Statistically, it’s more probable that OP is a female and the other party is a male.

She is a female and is personal friends with my also female boss who hired her.

Interesting that the one getting paid more than you and doing 1/2 the work is a female. Usually in the valley, it’s the other way around. I didn’t find out until a few months later when it happened to me but I turned the tables on him, I was the one who got national recognition for the product! Boo-yah!! My point is what comes around, goes around and it will for you, too!!

The way it usually works is if the woman is beautiful, she will get promotions and an increase in pay for doing less work. If she is average looking or ugly then she’ll have to do twice the work a man would have to do for the same recognition. This is a sad fact, but it’s true.
