I feel like a total fraud. I’ve lost all confidence in my own ability to actually execute on anything. Not sure if I’m just in a rut or actually suck as an entrepreneur.

  • You are in a rut. There’s no such thing as “just sucking as an entrepreneur.”

Take a break, it won’t seem so bad in a few days.

  • If you feel like a fraud, it will come across in your presentation. Either have confidence in your product or go back and amend it until you do. Use the feedback from potential clients – listen to what they’re NOT telling you as much as what they ARE. You’re not a fraud. Your product may not be where it needs to be, but that’s OK, it doesn’t make you a fraud it makes you an entrepreneur. Work your product. Change tack. When challenged (even by your own thoughts), take drastic action. It’ll get you out of your rut. Good Luck.

    • It doesn’t apply to confidence, this one you just cannot fake.

OP: Treat yourself well. Make sure to eat healthy, exercise, make time for working on yourself, wearing nice, fitting clothes and shoes. Be mindful of your inner voice, talk to yourself gently. The rule is if you wouldn’t accept anyone else talking to you like that, neither should you talk like that to yourself. Try http://www.fiveminutejournal.com This is a great way how to (re?)develop self-confidence.

  • I feel the same way. Scared to look for a job because it is like admitting failure and hate the idea of working for someone else. I am consulting right now and making decent money, you might want to consider it as people are already looking to your for advice.

It’s not very stable but lucrative enough to get by.

  • Don’t feel so bad – it happens.

It may not be your fault – there’s various types of entrepreneurs… those who create, those who execute, and those who can do both.

    The analogy here is singer-songwriter.

Some people often swing between one or the other.

The entrepreneur is often great at starting something, but not so good at running it. We’re loners, vagabonds, troublemakers. Success is simply a matter of finding and surrounding ourselves with those open-minded and clever souls who can take our insanity and put it to good use.
