As a startup CEO, I find you hire slow and fire fast, but boy does it pain me to fire people! Why do people bother to come work if they are going to treat it like an after school club?

Because they get paid?

Employees just adopt the culture the management sets. The question is then, how do you treat your work in front of the employees?

Different people have different strengths and areas of competency. Some people are startup people, some aren’t. A mismatch can cause people to get indifferent and not care.

Also, I learned recently when looking for a salesperson that there are channel sales, inside sales, outbound sales…it’s important to interview well and ask the right questions.

If you’re in the U.S., it’s because the entire work culture system is FUBAR. Employees aren’t paid based on output or efficiency; theyre judged by total hours they can sit there. So why wouldn’t they just come in and fuck around? If I were valued based on what I actually produce, I’d spend as little time in the office as possible…and that time would be insanely focused.

Due to previous staff issues, I now only hire contrators and they all know if the performance isn’t good then they’ll be out within a few weeks.
