  4. I'm a software engineer at a startup, and I'm clueless about how to get a date. What should I do?
  5. I am a sole non-technical female founder. I could be shitting rainbows and unicorns out my ass (which I do, daily) and investors still won't touch me with a stick. I know for a fact if I were two dudes I'd be fully funded by now.
  6. I am a woman CEO and hooked up with a guy the first night we met- he wants to join my company but I just can't get over the way we met.

Do you ever mentor entrepreneurs?

June 13, 2014 // AMA #1 1 Comment

If so, what kind of things have you found to lead to the most fruitful relationship?

Answer

I do, but sparingly since really getting to know someone and understand their motivations, fears, needs etc. is time consuming like any relationship. I think the most important thing is to develop a connection that comes from true mutual interests and also to recognize when the mentor or mentee is no longer getting enough out of it to continue. I don’t like being a crutch for someone who just keeps going in circles but doesn’t make progress. Those people need a therapist, and I usually have to break it off. All in all mentoring is great, but it is much less formalized than it sounds.
